Using Removable Wall Stickers in Your Decor

Removable wall stickers are a great way to change your room quickly, easily and inexpensively. Whether you are decorating a child's room, bathroom or any other room, you can find custom wall decals to match your concept. There are a wide variety of wall stickers in all sorts of colors and themes. In addition, if you would like, you can even create your own customized decals.

Unlike the removable decorations we grew up with, today's decals will not damage your paint or wall surfaces: No marks where the paint was ripped off. No little nail holes to fill and cover. Plus you're able to change your theme on a whim.

A little girl's room may have a theme of a garden or magical fairyland. Using a combination of wall decals featuring flowers and butterfly decorations, the two of you can work together to place the decals. As often is the case with children, you can change it to a princess and castle theme the next week or month when her mood or tastes differ.

Wall stickers are also a great way to change your decor with the season. You do not have to place the decorations in the same position to cover previous marks. You can design your home to present a welcoming atmosphere invoking summer, then change it for fall and the holiday seasons. The simplicity allows them to be taken down at the end of the season, put away and re-used the next year. No muss, no fuss and a fabulous home.

The Sweetest Tea Party

The winter doldrums had set into the world of my five-year-old daughter Katie. Even her seemingly boundless energy had dwindled as she lay back on her bed, just staring out the window.

I had suggested games, television and even playing in the snow, to no avail.
Suddenly my eyes rested on her tea table and favorite dress-up costumes and memories from my own childhood came to mind.

"How about a tea party?" I asked. Immediately, her eyes lit up and she asked if she would be allowed to invite her friends, Andrea and Rosa. I laughed and headed off to make the calls.

Katie and I set about preparing the tea, complete with little finger cookies on a plate, and soon the girls arrived. They ran up to the room, giggling all the way. I could hear their excited voices as each girl tried on different costumes.

To bring warmth and fun to their imaginations on such a cold day I suggested they become springtime fairies holding tea in the garden. Katie's room created the perfect setting, with the flowers and butterflies drifting across the wall. The girls loved the idea and began sorting through the many fairy and butterfly costumes Katie had accumulated in her short five years.

My heart warmed when I came back and saw all three little fairies dressed in Katie's favorite tutu skirts. Andrea was the flower fairy in the ribbon and daisy covered tutu. Rosa went all out and became a butterfly fairy, with shimmering wings, butterfly hairpiece and all. Not surprisingly, Katie chose her favorite pink sparkle tutu with the silky white bow. I watched as they waved their wands over the table their teacups. Magically, they were filled and the party began.

Memories as sweet as candy, from my childhood and now Katie's, flooded my mind and I found I had a bounce in my step as I went about the rest of the day.

Budget-saving garden wedding concept

I wanted to share with all of you a great wedding decor idea I came across at a friends' wedding reception last weekend.

When I first walked into the hall, my thoughts were transported and I was walking through the garden on a warm summer night. It seemed like the entrance into a private world. The arch where you entered the hall was covered in light pink, purple and yellow roses against a backdrop of white organza. My eyes were attracted to these dazzling butterflies tucked in among the roses.

As I stepped further into the hall, I noticed the walls were covered in a sparkling white sheer material and were pinned, yet seeming to float were roses, wild flowers and once again, in amongst the flowers, were those enchanting butterflies. This time they seemed to glow with inner light and I noticed the small jewel detailing. It created a romantic, almost spell-binding, effect on my senses.

Later on in the evening, I ran into the bride's mother and commented on the transformation that had taken place in the hall. She mentioned that with today's economy one of the places they were able to save on the budget was the decor. Amazed, I asked how this beautiful hall was created on a limited budget.

She said her daughter had always loved the book and movie of "The Secret Garden" so they tried to re-create that feeling for the wedding reception. At first, the desire had been to completely cover the shimmering walls with flowers. That plan changed when they received the estimate from the florist.

While perusing online for ideas, they came across the Bugs-n-Blooms Web site and saw the large variety of butterfly decorations available. They thought, what would be more perfect for their garden? They purchased a variety. Both the nylon butterflies that shimmered on the entrance arch and the jewel encrusted ones lighting the walls in a rainbow of colors created the atmosphere they were going for and, at the same time, allowed them to greatly reduce the flower budget.

Why little girls like to dress up in princess costumes

Developing minds love to be around lively, fun and eye-catching images because these bring out the natural curiosity they have for the world. It is no wonder why cartoons, cute toys and other colorful things will always be popular with children.

Of course, we need to remember that most children live in their own fantasy bubble and it is only natural for them to want to be part of that magical world. After all, isn’t playfulness a manifestation of that special youthful innocence? Little girls, in particular, are easy to attract with such images. They love to feel pretty and magical like their favorite Disney princesses or their own Barbie dolls. Naturally, the next step would be to imitate these characters by dressing up like them.

In that case, if you are planning to buy a special gift for a daughter or niece any time soon, you ought to know that beauty, glitters, bright feminine colors and sweet dresses will surely be a hit with small girls. Butterfly costume wings and tutu skirts are just some of the various items you can choose from the wide variety of princess-inspired costumes on the market. Of course, other items include dresses, make-up, clips, hairpieces and other accessories.
